Vanilla Chai Latte

  • by

With all the snow and labile weather in Winnipeg this year, let us seek comfort in a nice warm vanilla chai latte.

what you will need

1 tsp chai loose leaf tea

1 cup of filtered hot water

2 tsp of raw brown sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp milk

3 tbsp of heavy cream

Pinch of cinnamon

Nespresso Milk Frother (or you can use the microwave and a frother if you don’t have this)

how to make your vanilla chai latte

  1. Bring your filtered water to a boil and pour 1 cup of water over 1 tsp of chai loose leaf tea (adjust amount of tea leaves depending on if you like your tea stronger or lighter)
  2. Allow to steep for 2-3 minutes
  3. While your tea is steeping, prep your steamed milk

Making the cream

If using the Nespresso Milk Frother

  • Combine 1 tbsp of milk, 3 tbsp of heavy cream, and 2 tsp of brown sugar into the Nespresso and press the button (ensure it’s orange so that the milk will be warm)

If not using Nespresso Milk Frother

  • Combine 1 tbsp of milk, 3 tbsp of heavy cream, and 2 tsp of brown sugar into a microwavable cup. Mix the ingredients and heat in the microwave for 15 seconds. Then froth the mix until slightly fluffy

Making your latte

4. Once your tea has finished steeping, add 2 tsp of vanilla extract to your chai tea

5. Pour your frothed sweet cream into your tea ensuring to get all the frothy goodness at the top

6. Sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon over top and dress it up with a cinnamon stick if you have (just for decoration, not completely necessary but we’re just extra when it comes to tea)

Despite all of this crazy weather, at least we can enjoy a nice vanilla chai latte 🙂
