A simple matcha latte for your everyday matcha fix. Matcha is a great energy booster and will give you calming energy that won’t make you crash! We love having matcha latte mornings on the days where we have a little bit more time to cater to our inner barista. If you don’t have all the fancy tools, don’t worry! Work with what you got and get creative!
What you will need
1 tsp of our ceremonial grade organic matcha (or any matcha you may have on hand)
2-3 oz of filtered hot water boiled at 175 degrees F
1 cup of oat milk
1 tsp raw organic brown sugar
Matcha Whisk or electronic frother or whatever whisk you have on hand
Make your matcha latte
- Add 1 tsp of your matcha powder and brown sugar and 2-3 oz of hot water to a large mug or whisking bowl
- Use your matcha whisk (or whatever whisk you have on hand) to whisk the powder in a back-and-forth motion or imagine drawing out the letter “Z” with your whisk, swiftly until matcha becomes light and foamy. If you are using an electronic frother, then no need for the zig zags, just hold it steady and let the frother do it’s thing.
- Steam your oatmilk until it’s slightly fluffy
- Combine the steamed oatmilk into your matcha mix and enjoy a nice warm matcha latte!
If you like you’re matcha unsweetened, you can totally skip the sugar! We usually drink ours without sugar but we know there are a lot of people who like a little bit of sweetness in their morning drink. Play around with this recipe, it might take a few times to get it just right!
Also remember when mixing matcha with boiling hot water it can burn it creating a slightly more bitter taste – bring the water to a boil and let it sit a few minutes before mixing with your matcha, it really does make a big difference!
